Spine Wears : FAQ’s

  • FAQ’s

How much does it cost?

Our Spine Wears is a premium bracing treatment designed for efficacy, comfort, and style. Of course, we’d all like to say that we’d spare no expense when it comes to health and wellbeing, especially when it comes to our children. But the reality is, you need to know. We understand.

The good news is the brace may fall under the same insurance coding as typical braces. As with any insurance claim, your cost will depend on your deductible and your plan coverage. Insurance benefit checks may be completed in advance of ordering a brace.

Spine Wears is currently available at selected leading scoliosis healthcare providers. We can connect you with the provider in your region to determine if you or your family member is a good fit for our scoliosis treatment.

What makes UNYQ unique?

Like you, UNYQ is unique in every sense of the word. We don’t stop at mediocrity; we seek to provide the most stylish, breathable, and effective scoliosis treatment option. Our brace is manufactured with the latest 3D printing technologies and is completely personalized to your measurements. Each brace is unique, meaning we produce it individually so it’s customized with your anatomical measurements. Choose from the designs we have on our website or ask us to design a custom one that fits your own style.

How is it different from a Boston Brace?

The AIS Brace is very similar to the Boston Brace in how it functions. A UNYQ Rep will use a 3D scan to make the brace custom to you and to provide correction while you wear the brace. In addition, our brace uses advanced digital design and 3D printing to create a brace that is lighter, more breathable, comfortable and beautiful than any traditional TLSO.

Why is it better?

The use of rigid, full-time TLSOs as an effective treatment of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis has been proven by numerous recent studies. However, these studies have consistently found that the braces are only effective if worn for the prescribed time, often 18+ hrs/day. Achieving these wear time goals is a real challenge with traditional TLSOs because they are bulky, hot, uncomfortable, and unattractive. Spine Wears use advanced digital design and 3D printing to create a brace that is lighter, more breathable, comfortable and beautiful than any traditional TLSO.

Are our Spine Wears covered by insurance?

Our braces are covered by many private and public insurers, including Medicare and state equivalents. If you have previously been provided a TLSO for scoliosis and it was reimbursed by insurance, then our brace will be covered, as they are reimbursed under the same HCPCS codes (L1200 series). If this is your first brace and you are unsure if your insurance will cover it, we will work with you to determine if your insurer will reimburse the cost of the treatment.

How is the brace made?

The brace is custom designed and manufactured using the latest 3D printing technologies. 3D printing is a revolutionary technology which consists of making a three-dimensional object by utilizing selective laser sintering. For our scoliosis braces, we use a highly durable polyamide that ensures durability and consistency.

How much does the brace weigh?

The weight of the brace depends on the design you choose, and your anatomical measurements. The typical weight of the brace ranges between 1.5-2 pounds / 680 – 900 grams depending on the design and your personal measurements. To give you an idea, that’s about the same weight as a can of peas. When people first get their brace, they say they notice the new weight, but it typically doesn’t interfere with their activity and quickly becomes normal.

How do I take care of my brace?

The brace doesn’t need special care. You can clean your brace with a soft damp cloth. To prolong the life of your brace, avoid exposing it to strong shocks or sharp objects.

What is the closure system?

Your brace will be delivered ready to be finished by a UNYQ Rep. The back panels have ample flat zone where straps are attached.
