UNYQ prosthetic covers are being reimbursed by a number of payer organizations, including the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, numerous workers’ compensation programs, as well as a growing list of private insurance policies.
UNYQ prosthetic covers protect and prevent repairs and replacements of expensive functional componentry associated with the activities of daily living. The recommended coding for UNYQ covers are:
- L5704: Custom shaped protective cover below the knee.
- L5705: Custom shaped protective cover above the knee.
The UNYQ covers meet these CMS descriptors. Many have asked if the UNYQ covers have been approved by the PDAC. Remember, no prosthetic components to date are required to have a PDAC code approval letter. This requirement ONLY applies to certain orthotic items at this time. However, you should have in your documentation a list of all component parts used in the make up of your delivered prosthesis.
Please note: Responsibility for accurate coding lies solely with the provider treating the patient. UNYQ assumes no responsibility or liability for the provider’s coding decisions. UNYQ makes coding suggestions based on its best judgment and information available. These suggestions are subject to revisions at any time.
