Each of us has a personal life story that makes us unique, what is yours? How do you feel unique?

At the age of 13 I was diagnosed with bone cancer, osteosarcoma, which had spread to both my lungs. After multiple lung surgeries I got my right leg amputated above the knee and came along with chemotherapy in order to save my life.

Being an amputee was difficult at first but once I became involved with the amputee community I learned new tips and tricks and things became easier.

The hardest challenge I’ve had has been dealing with my mental health. I struggled for years but finally figured out what works for me. I try to do something new regularly, whether that be trying a new restaurant, traveling somewhere new, or starting a new hobby. It keeps the mind fresh.

How do you handle self-acceptance? What is your biggest inspiration in life?

I step outside my comfort zone, I’ve found doing that helps me realize how much I can accomplish. Now, I strive to accomplish new things regularly and also step outside my comfort zone every chance I get. Just living life to its fullest.

I am inspired by confident movers and shakers, those who aren’t afraid to speak their mind or make change happen. So I particularly admire my friends, whether they are amputees or not, because everyone has a story to tell.

«If I had to give advice to other amputees that would be: Be yourself and take a step out of the comfort zone!«

What does wearing UNYQ Covers mean to you?

In 2015 UNYQ reached me out to be a patient model. Since then I love the design and how customizable the covers are, and it’s great to have symmetry with your other leg.

Besides, what I like most is durability. They are quite durable, as I’ve had mine for 5 years and it’s still holding strong!
