Raising amputation awareness through social media

When talking about raising amputation awareness in social media it’s very important to balance between inspiration, motivation and entertainment, and that’s something Richard has achieved for sure.

Richard (@bionic_sneakers) is a 34-year-old unique man based in France who considers himself a good hearted person as he encourages people through his activity on social media by creating creative content.

«I don’t know if I am unique, but I do believe that I am a very simple person with many things to pass on to others, as I have good values and a big heart and I hope there are many people like me.»

As an amputee, Richard discovered that cultivating a good body image and sense of humor were very helpful on his road to recovery and self-acceptance. This discovery was the foundation of the beginning of his creative journey.

He began sharing his follow-up amputation on social media in order to regain some self-confidence and acceptance in people’s eyes. In fact, he rapidly gained motivational comments that allowed him to tell his story through Instagram and Tiktok and it has become a daily awareness and motivating content for those in the same situation.

«I want to show as many people as possible that people with disabilities are capable of doing many things and that everything they dream of is possible.»

We never know what tomorrow will bring, and Richard knows it so enjoys every moment. A typical day at Richard’s life is based on video creation and being followed by his cat “Sneakers” all over the house! You can see both of them on Richard’s Instagram and Tiktok profiles.

As he is always seeking inspiration day and night and also taking some training in video editing he’s able to improve his content every day. However, he dreams of being able to run again and of work while traveling around the world.

Raising amputation awareness through social media is crucial to balance inspiration, motivation and entertainment. And that’s something Richard has achieved for sure.

Thank you Richard for sharing your story with us. Nowadays being a digital nomad is not a crazy idea! So… why not? We encourage you to do so!
